Our shopkeeper, Louise Gorrod, is always at home in the kitchen and never more so than at the start of a new season. Here she tells us what the onset of autumn means to her.
'One of the things I love most about autumn is the change that occurs in the kitchen with all the new seasonal produce - it’s a bountiful time, that’s for sure. Whether you grow-your-own, shop at your local farmers market or are lucky enough to be gifted your neighbours surplus allotment pumpkins or windfall apples, there are lots of hearty one-pot recipes to be made: trays of sticky roasted veg, aromatic stews that will happily blimp away on the stove until you’re hungry, and delicious fruit crumbles'.
'These are the kind of meals that I love to share with friends at the weekend. They perfectly fit the ethos of our Sunday Best campaign too – taking the new season as an opportunity to do something slow, fun and meaningful'.
'With such thoughts in my mind, I’ve selected these lovely products for the autumn kitchen from The Stuff of Life. Generous terracotta bowls to serve roasted vegetables and cast-iron cooking pots for slow-cooked stews to some new linen and some pretty tea-lights for a little ambience on those darker days - these ones here can double up as pretty plant holders too. Just add food, wine and friends'.
